Ray Mandlekar

Ray Mandlekar is head of LTL's financial fraud, securities, and class action litigation practice group.  A former partner of one of the premier plaintiff trial firms in the U.S., he has over nine years of experience representing plaintiffs in securities fraud cases, and over thirteen years of experience representing plaintiffs in complex class action matters. He has litigated high-profile financial fraud cases in California, Colorado, New York, New Jersey and Texas courts. Most of Ray’s cases involved complex subject matter, such as accounting fraud, structured finance and the use of financial derivatives, and many involved claims for billions of dollars.  In addition, Ray has successfully litigated many consumer class action cases involving false advertising, unfair business practices, and other actions.  In addition to his successes prosecuting cases, these very experiences provide Ray a unique advantage in defending such matters, as he can "think like a plaintiff's lawyer."

Representative Matters

  • Represented shareholders in In re Enron Corporation Securities Litigation, one of the largest and most complicated corporate frauds in American history, which resulted in a settlement of $7.2 billion.
  • Represented shareholders in In re Qwest Communications Securities Litigation, which resulted in a settlement of $445 million.
  • Represented plaintiff shareholders in the jury trial of securities fraud claims against a Fortune 100 company, which resulted in a settlement of $100 million after the plaintiffs presented their case-in-chief.  
  • Represented Hong Kong bond purchasers in In re Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc., the largest bankruptcy in American history.
